Missing Saudi girl found

Police on Sunday found Ibtihal, the Saudi girl who was reported missing from the Grand Mosque while performing Umrah in the company of her relatives 10 days ago. The girl’s age was not disclosed. Col. Misfar Al-Juaid, Jeddah police spokesman, told Arab News that Jeddah police handed the girl to the authorities concerned in Makkah immediately after finding her as is done usually in such cases.

Two arrested for gang rape

Jeddah police reported on Sunday the arrest of two suspects believed to be involved in the kidnap and gang rape of a teenager. Jeddah police spokesman Col. Misfir Al-Juaid told Arab News four Chadian men abducted the girl and took her to a dark area behind the Ahdal market in the southern Ghulail district. After responding to a complaint by the rape survivor’s family, police arrested two men, ages unknown, and are searching for the other two.

Vice cops arrest 3 for blackmailing women

The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in Jeddah announced it has arrested three men in their 20s after receiving complaints from three married women that they had obtained photographs of them and were using them for sexual blackmail. “The women suffered, fearing defamation,” said Commission spokesman for Makkah province Salim Al-Sarwani. “They were scared that their marriages might end in divorce if they did not succumb to the bad intentions of their harassers.”

Blackmailers of raped boy held

The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Makkah arrested two men who have been accused of repeatedly raping a young boy and then blackmailing him with images of the crime in order to keep him quiet and lure him back for more sexual abuse. The authorities did not provide the ages of the men and the boy.

Man, 60, girl, 2, drown in sea

A 60-year-old man and a two-year-old girl are the latest reported casualties of the sea in the Eastern Province, according to police. “The negligence of vacationers to heed safety measures and warnings placed by the Border Guard along the sea shores has caused these regrettable deaths,”

Soaked in blood, killer dad called cops

More details have come out in the cold-blooded murder of three children by their father in Al-Qumriyah district of this highland city in the Western Region. According to Sunday’s edition of the local daily Shams, the father is a former military police officer in his 50s who was crippled last year in a car accident that ended his career. His wife left him some time after the accident and went back to live with her family.
After murdering his three children, the man — whose name is not being made public — called police to inform them of his crime and waited at his home, drenched in blood, for the authorities to arrive and arrest him.

New turn in missing kids’ case

The Makkah police on Sunday denied they received any reports about two children from Qatar who were reported lost in the area of the Grand Mosque 40 days ago. Makkah police Maj. Abdul Mohsen Al-Maiman said neither his department nor the police responsible for the holy site have been notified of missing children. Media reports say a Qatari citizen told authorities in his country that his son and daughter got lost in the mosque complex.

Man hurt in accidental shooting

Two men have been seriously injured into two separate shooting incidents in this southern city, according to police reports. In the first incident a young man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. The man told police that he was injured while playing with a cousin who accidentally pulled the trigger of a pistol he had with him. Police arrested the cousin who said he had no idea that the gun was loaded. The second incident happened in a nearby village when a young man shot his cousin in the hip in a family dispute. Lt. Col. Awad Al-Qahtani, spokesman for Jazan police, said the gunman was arrested and is being questioned.

Burned body identified

Police in the Eastern Province city of Saihat have identified a burned body found in a sewage tank by an expatriate as a 26-year-old that had been reported missing. Forensic experts believe the man died about a month earlier. The remains were identified by poring through photos of locally missing persons and comparing the DNA of suspected matches with next-of-kin until they found the family. The man's parents said he was suffering from mental problems.

Expat held over murder

Police in Tabuk arrested an expatriate worker for allegedly killing a truck driver in Shaqri on Tabuk-Dhuba Road, according to Brig. Saleh Al-Harbi, spokesman for Tabuk police. Security officers searched for the killer after hearing the news of a body being found near a petroleum truck in an area far from residential districts in Shaqri, 90 km from Tabuk.
