A drug addict who was desperate for a fix slashed his wrists in police custody so he could go to a Dubai hospital to meet a dealer. Dubai Police had arrested an Emirati man on drugs charges and taken him to Rashidiya police station when the incident happened on April 15.
Brigadier Abdul Jalil Mahdi, head of the Anti-Narcotic Department in Dubai Police, said: “He slashed his wrists using a sharp tool and the guards in the police station transferred him to the hospital by ambulance.” He continued: “We then received information from a source that a Pakistani man was to give drugs to an inmate who was going to slash his wrists in order to get out of the cell and meet up with him at the hospital. “This is a new way to try and smuggle drugs to inmates. The defendant risked his life for a small amount of drugs.”
