A labourer has appeared before the court accused of raping a fellow worker at knifepoint. The Dubai Court of First Instance heard yesterday how a knife was held to the neck of the 21 year-old victim during the attack at a labour camp. The victim said in the official records that he went to meet his friend at a labour camp in the Rashidiya area of Dubai. “My attacker was in the same room as my friend. My friend told me that he had to go to work and said that I should stay with him (the defendant) in the room,” the victim said in court records. “I was going to go to sleep when he (the defendant) locked the door and raised a knife. He threatened to kill me if I refused having sex with him,” the victim added. After the ordeal the victim informed police who arrested the defendant. The defendant has pleaded not guilty to rape charges and the case has been adjourned until later this month.
